Car crash doesn’t stop Eden Prairie lawyer from ‘Olympic trial’

Here was a man who has had a passion for curling since his college days at St. Olaf in Northfield. He became a lawyer and now was about to argue a case in a daylong trial over a speakerphone before the United States Curling Association’s appeals panel in an effort to get a Twin Cities-based team into the Olympic trials — and guess what?

Some numbskull crashed into his car.

Todd Birr, a veteran of the world championships, and John Benton, a 2010 Olympian – both employees at the Four Seasons curling center in Blaine – had the idea to make one more run for the Olympics – together.
